One day I was trying to put sunscreen on my back in the mirror and saw this black spot. I hadn’t noticed it before - I hadn’t really looked at my back before. It was like an alarm bell sounding off. I thought ‘this can’t be good, it’s too dark, this is like all those bad photos you see in the doctor’s surgery’. It was later diagnosed as a melanoma and removed. At the time I thought ‘That’s that. It’s over’.
